Impossible is Merely Just a Word

Everybody, at some point of his or her life, has dreamed of being somebody special, somebody gigantic. Who has not fantasized about being the one that hits the game-winning homer? Who has not dreamed about being the homecoming queen? And how many times have we dreamed about being rich, or successful, or pleased with our relationships?

Frequently, we think big dreams and have great desires. And our aspirations simply collect dust in our attic.

This is a sad turn of events in our life. Instead of experiencing exciting adventures in self actualization, we get mixed up in the humdrum of living from daily just barely existing. The commonest problem to setting goals is the word impossible. It is too hard. It is too most unlikely. Nobody can do this.

In theory, they exclaimed, it was most unlikely for the bumblebee to fly. So fly it does. On the other hand, some folk have dreaming fully outrageous dreams and not acting on them. The result? Broken dreams, and tattered desires.

If you reach too far out into the sky without moving towards your goal, you may find yourself clinging on to the not possible dream.

Try this simple NLP exercise. Take a bit of paper and write down some goals in your life. Under one header, list down things ‘you know you can do’. Now look at all of the headers try every day to do the goals that are under things ‘you know you can do’. Check them when you are able to achieve them. As you slowly may be able to check all your goals under that heading, try achieving the goals under the other header-the one that reads ‘you might be ready to do.’

As you iterate thru this process, you’ll find out the goals you thought were most unlikely become simpler to accomplish. And the very unlikely begin to seem possible after all. You see, the strategy here is not to restrict your imagination. However it also is unwise to set a goal that is actually impractical.

People who just dream towards a goal without working diligently end up disappointed and disillusioned.

On the other hand, if you told someone 100 years ago that it was possible for man to be on the moon, they would giggle at you. If you had told them that you could send mail from here to the other side of the Earth in one or two seconds, they would say you were out of your mind.

Thomas Edison once announced that genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99% perspiration. For one to accomplish their dreams, there needs to be had work and discipline. But take note that that one percent needs to be a think-big dream, and not some simply accomplished one. Ask any gym rat and he or she will tell you that there can be no gains unless you are put out of your comfort area. Remember the saying,’No discomfort, no gain?’ That is as true as it can be.

Think big and work conscientiously to accomplish those dreams. As you step up the ladder of progress, you’ll nearly find out that the impossible has just become a little bit more possible.
